Also, I study and teach Kum Nye-Tibetan Yoga, Certified by the Nyingma Institute of Brazil. Nyingma is the “Old School” of Tibet Buddhism. Kum Nye yoga originates from the ancient Buddhist Vinaya and Tibetan medical texts . The word Kum means to expand, Nye means to stimulate the flux of energy in the body. The aim of this practice is--- to bring the body and mind into equilibrium. Kum Nye is an ancient structured yoga practice based on personal experience, combining postures with meditation and self-massage.

I received my Bachelors of Arts, in Studio Art, from Whitman College, Walla Walla, Washington, USA, in 1994. I am a visual artist and writer. I was a business writer for 10 years. Today, I write freelance, poetry, and historical fiction with art threads.

CUT FROM THE EARTH

My up coming book is CUT FROM THE EARTH a historical adventure story about famous 18th century Portuguese tile maker, monogram PMP-Piloto Manuel Pires, who harbors a female tile innovator whose design of the figura de convite, an invitation figure, puts the shop's works in demand by Lisbon’s elite and at odds with a Jesuit priest. When a commission from the Amazon arrives and an omen is disregarded, the shop falls into struggle. Then on November 1, 1755, All Saints Day, Lisbon’s most celebrated liturgical holiday, disasters strike: earthquake, tidal waves, and fire. Piloto’s life is forever changed and challenged as is his shop's, tile making, Portugal and the priesthood, and the colony of Brazil is called upon to assist and console those that survive- but at a cost to all.

A story of Portuguese tile and of love -- defying gender and class -- and the power of nature and love to guide and heal.
